Hiking Lake Louise

The Trailhead for all these Hikes is at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

SADDLEBACK PASS – 7.4km

This trail climbs at a moderate pace, getting steep at some points and arriving at a pass between Mount Fairview and Saddle Peak. Very scenic hike, with spectacular views.

MOUNT FAIRVIEW – 10km
Start your hike going through the moderately steep Saddleback Pass trail. Many switchbacks on the ascent taking you up to the summit for remarkable views in all directions.

LAKE AGNES TEA HOUSE – 6.8km
The hike to Lake Agnes and the historic tea house on its shorelines is a relatively easy hike through the forest. Treat yourself at the end of this hike by having some tasty treats at the tea house.

LITTLE BEEHIVE/BIG BEEHIVE – 10km
Same start as the Lake Agnes hike, but continuing past the far end of Lake Agnes, stop for views at little beehive for views of Lake Louise. Continue another kilometre or so up switchbacks to reach the top of the Big Beehive for views of the Bow Valley and Lake Louise.

PLAIN OF SIX GLACIERS – 10.6km
One of my favourite hikes, and easily the most scenic, the Plain of Six Glaciers trail offers extensive views of the surrounding areas. Continue up to the historic Plain of Six Glaciers tea house for a snack. **This hike can be combined with the Lake Agnes Tea House hike to make the ‘Tea House Challenge’ which is great fun.

MOUNT SAINT PIRAN – 12.5km
Mount Saint Piran is a long hike, but beautifully scenic the whole way, ending up above the trees with breathtaking views of Lake Louise and the nature below. If you are up for a challenge, you can opt to take a steep, off-trail, descent along the backside of the peak.
